SUMMARY:Power of Practice: From Right Effort to Effortless Effort
DESCRIPTION:Tassajara Zen and Yoga Retreat\, 6 months experience in meditation and/or yoga recommended. \nSuzuki Roshi taught here\, “We must make some effort\, but we must forget ourselves in the effort we make…By the power of practice the effort will become purer and purer.” At the same time in India\, B.K.S. Iyengar taught effortlessness as the culmination of dynamic\, progressive effort through the various aspects of yoga. Though divided by oceans\, these two founding teachers shared an understanding of how as resistance dissolves\, the inner light begins to shine. \nHow do we transform our knowledge of the power of practice into wisdom that manifests in the moment? How do we use obstacles to nourish the living power of practice? In this weekend retreat\, we invite you to enter deeply into the experience of awakening body and mind through the forms of Iyengar Yoga and Soto Zen. Practicing together peacefully amidst mountain sounds and valley colors\, in this retreat we will sharpen our skills to transform our home practice throughout the year. \nThis retreat will be co-led by Brian Hogencamp\, www.iybrian.com \n  \n
