Pranayama and Philosophy for Iyengar Teachers

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali warns of physical, physiological, intellectual, psychological, and spiritual obstacles that come up in practice, accompanied by present and future pain. He teaches remedies to avoid future suffering which seasoned practitioners can apply to resolve present difficulties and avoid future suffering. Because these remedies bring up consciousness through skillful practice with one’s energy, pranayama is a key element of self-study in yoga.
In this experiential workshop, Introductory and Junior Intermediate Iyengar teacher trainees will study how to recognize, admit and address the obstacles through skillful means in pranayama practice.
